Printing for paper, not for screens

Every print edition gets its own grade. A cotton rag paper holds less contrast than a screen, so the shadows are lifted and the midtones opened before anything goes to the printer.

Proofing under the lamp

I proof on the final paper at small size first, under a 5000 K lamp, and compare against the screen in a dim room.

Editions are signed and numbered on the back, with the lens, distance and exposure written under the signature.
